Interview with Lori

Q.  How long having you been doing what you do?

A. I have been making custom clothing for over 35 years as a creative outlet and started Elle Couture Designs in 2008.

Q.  How did you become a designer?

A.  It really comes from my soul’s desire to be in the creative space of design.  I am very blessed to have this talent that I get to share with the world.  I learned to sew from my mother at a young age, went to fashion design school and have been refining my sewing techniques over a 35 year period of time.  Today, I am proud to say that I have developed my skills to the level of a Couture designer.  “Couture” simply means “high sewing” and is the highest expression of the dressmaker’s art.  Many key elements are used in creating Couture garments, which include painstaking attention to detail and hand-sewing.  It was through my vast experience in making custom clothing that I connected with my passion (and near obsession) for creating stunning wedding dresses.  It is an honor and a privilege to be part of such a momentous occasion in a woman’s life!

Q.  I love your portfolio and your services, everything sounds fantastic…so can you tell me what sets you apart from all the other designers?

A.  That is a great question!  First and foremost, it is my creative ability to interpret a Bride’s vision and bring it to reality in her gown.  I am able to provide guidance and direction in helping a Bride to know which style or silhouette will look best with her body type and emphasize her best features.  With a passion for the wedding industry, I keep up with the latest trends in styles and can easily adapt my techniques to accommodate special designs or unique elements in a gown design.  By utilizing Couture techniques in every creation, there is a different look and feel to the gowns.  I have a near obsession with ensuring the proper fit and proportion of a gown, the Bride will feel amazing because it fits her body like a glove.  She will radiate a special beauty knowing that she was “The Designer” of her own gown.

Q.  This all sounds so wonderful but it also seems expensive, so can I afford it?

A.  I am so glad you asked that question because it can be a very real concern for a Bride!   Just the word “custom” can discourage a Bride from even pursuing the idea of having her gown custom made by a designer such as myself.  If a Bride plans to invest $2,000 or more on her gown, it would be well worth her time to schedule a consultation with me to discuss her options.

Q. Who do you best work with?

A.  I work best with a Bride who values my skills and expertise as a designer, who will enjoy the creative process and who plans to spend $2,000 or more on her wedding gown.  I also work best with a Bride who can communicate her vision for her gown through pictures that appeal to her, or she can describe it to me.  I will take all her ideas, pictures and details and combine them into her dream wedding dress.

Q. Who will not benefit from your services?

A.  I am so glad you asked for that distinction as well.  In general, a Bride who plans to spend $1,000 or less on her gown will not benefit from my services.  I simply cannot offer a high quality custom gown in that price range.  It would require me to compromise my standards of quality and it would not provide the best value and service to my client.

Q.  Will I lose creative control once the process starts?

A.  That is a very valid concern, especially for a Bride!  My formal system actually requires the Bride to be an active part of the creative process.  She must give her approval at each key step to keep the process moving forward.   This ensures that she ultimately receives the gown just as she had envisioned wearing on her wedding day.

Q. Do you take credit cards and do you offer payment plans?

A.  Yes, I accept all major credit cards.  My formal system and process has a built in payment plan.

Q.  This sounds like just what I have been looking for, what happens next to start the process?

A.  Awesome, I am glad you already see the value in my services!   The next step would be to contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation.  You can cal me at 714.745.3846 or to complete my Inquiry Form, just click here.  I want to hear all about your wedding and your needs and see if we are a good match.

Q.  Can I contact some of your clients?

A.  Yes, I will be happy to provide you with that information.  Here is a recent testimonial from a custom gown client Lauren:

“The dress was gorgeous and perfect! Thank you soo much for all the hard work that you put into it and being soo flexible with me as I changed my mind many times! Everyone else loved my dress as well!”  – Lauren P.”

Q.  I have a couple of questions before starting, can I call you to discuss?

A.  Absolutely!  In fact, I highly encourage and require all Brides to schedule a complimentary consultation to answer any questions, to see samples of my work and to make sure we are a good fit.

  • Has anyone else had success in purchasing sample gowns? It seems to make sense and sure could save me a whole bunch of money. Any insights or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
